Katia Ciesielska
Katia Ciesielska is an independent non-executive director based in Luxembourg. She serves on the boards of regulated funds and corporate structures for some 15 sponsor and family-office groups, covering private equity, private debt, real estate and infrastructure, and spanning more than 40 Luxembourg and EU entities. She also holds AML/CFT Officer (RC/RR) roles on several regulated mandates and works two days a week as Head of Legal and Compliance at DWS.
Her board work focuses on fund governance, AML/CFT oversight and AI governance, including EU AI Act readiness. She is a board member of the Luxembourg Institute of Directors (ILA), where she serves on the Education and Certification Committee and the Think Tank. She has co-authored several ILA publications, including the Code of Conduct for Directors, the CGO Journey series, AI in the Boardroom and New Technologies for Board Minutes.
Katia is an ILA Certified Director and Fund Governance Expert and a CAMS-certified anti-money laundering specialist. She holds the INSEAD International Directors Programme certificate and MIT Sloan's Artificial Intelligence: Implications for Business Strategy. She trained in law in Poland, France and the United Kingdom, and works primarily in English, French and Polish, with working knowledge of German and Luxembourgish.
She is a Paperjam Top 100 Women on Boards honoree (2020, 2023, 2025), writes for Paperjam and speaks regularly at conferences including PwC NED Day, Nexus and Guberna.
